September

 September seems to have been crazily busy with socialising, hospital visits (we are both fine with slight adjustments), John closing the local French Bridge club (insufficient support), John joining the Cahors Anglo/French Association and me giving a talk to an English speaking garden group near Bordeaux. I was asked to do a talk on "Planting Bulbs". As basically that involves digging a hole and shoveing a bulb in I had to do a lot of research to pad it out!! It was the first such talk I had given but it seems to have been appreciated and they kindly donated 100 euros to the garden charity which we support. John's new club is right up his street, a way of improving his French and with an academic bias.

September heralded the usual hints of Autumn but despite cooler mornings the rest of the days remained hot. I felt that I should start cutting back and clearing in the garden but the plants were still blooming so well that I hadn't got the heart to pull them out. However we had heavy rain last weekend and I decided that I could start the Autumn jobs, except that I have had no time this week. 

Eventually finding a moment I toured the garden yesterday morning to check on deer and rabbit damage and suddenly realised that the garden was not "finished" as I had imagined but was still flowering.......so I grabbed the camera and took these photos.

                            There are still lots more buds on the pelargoniums infront of the house.

Meantime my recent order of perennials arrived on Thursday, which does necessitate some clearing before I can plant them.
