Meanwhile, back at the Ranch......
As Sue mentioned, we lost our Internet connection for a couple of days which interupted her story. As always, that meant a few (?) hours sat at the computer trying different things to get back on line. Ended up re-formatting and reloading programmes!
This was annoying as, at the moment I'm flat out clearing out the 'Caves' so that Cyrille, our builder can start on the 15th October. As usual this involved a merry-go-round - where do we put the things we've got to move? We've decided that everything has to go in to the barn. Fine. But that means that a home has to be found for the things in the barn. However, it's not as bad as it sounds. I've restacked old roof tiles outside of the barn, taken some things off to the dump, and decided to stack our firewood under the trees. Or at least that was the idea.
Once I'd cut up a lot of scrap timber and beams that our neighbour JJ had given us, and stacked that plus our existing stock of wood which is ready for the fire, I've decided to see if I can leave the pile of wood in the barn.
It's BIG. It just depends if there's enough room for the pallets of unopened boxed stuff that we're storing until parts of the house are ready (in how many years time?)
We've put the mini-digger and all of the gardening equipment into the barn. Now all that remains is for me to set up my workshop. The Caves will then be empty and I can continue making the Porcherie weather -proof in case we need to store things from the house. Fortunately, we won't need to 'live' in the Porcherie as we are now going to live in our friends' house. John and Lesley are happy for us to use their house, and it will solve lots of problems. Didn't fancy using an earth toilet, anyway!
