Back to It
We're finally back to normal life.
We're continuing with the jointing of the stones in the stairs passage. However, the pressure is off as we've decided that we don't want the stairs fitted until virtually everything else is done, and that could take about 3 years! It's impossible to stop the dust and sand getting everywhere, and we feel that it will inevitably damage the stairs, no matter how much we cover them up.
Whilst we've been considering the whole stair's situation, we are in the frame of mind of rethinking the type of stairs which we may eventually fit. Sue has never been fully happy with the design which our 'stairs' man was proposing to build for us. We went to see him yesterday to discuss the 'postponement' and, whilst we were at his workshop, he took us to his house to show us a new stairs design. And even I have to say that the quality of workmanship was very poor. This just confirmed to Sue that we will look further afield when we're eventually ready to fit stairs.
