Ceremonial Welcome

Although we officially became French Citizens at the beginning of February, 'our' bureaucracy moves slowly and so it was only yesterday that we went to our ceremonial welcome.  We had to go to the Prefecture in Cahors where we and 62 other 'new' French citizens were welcomed by the deputy Prefect,

shown a short video of 'Frenchness' and were then individually greeted and given a dossier which included our Family Book which verified who we are and our family relations.
Then. as always in France, this was finished with a drink and nibbles, although, as it was about 5pm we were only offered orange juice or water!!!
However, our friend Judith, who was receiving her French Citizenship as well, had organised  a glass of Champagne and a finger buffet at a nearby Pub (yes there are such things in France ... so British.)
