Confirmation That We Are Old

We have just crawled in from the garden and the way we feel is confirmation enough that we are not as young as we were. However I am prompted to write this post not by the state of my back but by the fact that we received a telephone call from our Mairie this afternoon to check that we were OK. We were so touched that the community spirit presumably extends to all residents of our commune who are over 70. We recognise that our village only has a population of 500 but it was still nice to know that the community cares.

However this is not the first time we have been "checked on" by others in the village.......some older than us! The trouble is most of the time in our heads we're still 21 or may be 31.
