A Day Off

Sue has been most insistent that we have a day off.....or at least half a day! So this morning we went off to St. Martial de Nabirat, a small village about half an hour away up into the Dordogne. Our builder had told us that this Sunday was the 'Foire de l'Abre' (literally the Fair of the Tree). The centre of the village was taken over with horticulturers and growers selling all manner of trees, bushes and plants, many of which were in bloom through having been forced on. Evidently this fair is the first of the year and is often hit by bad weather, but, although it wasn't particularly warm, it wasn't a bad morning. We only bought a couple of small plants as, at the moment, we are concentrating on the house, but we did meet our builder as he lives in the centre of the village!

As you can see from the following photos, the afternoon turned out lovely and sunny. I mowed the grass and Sue did some weeding on her paths.

As I was wandering around in the bright sunshine I looked at the rear of the house with the new windows and the door which we've added. I must admit that I'm pleased with the way the house is coming along. Sometimes I think that the house is 'alive'; we seem to get organic growth to our original plans as we have to make changes to overcome problems.
