Calling Noah
Since my last posting yesterday it rained continually, all through the night into the morning. Cyrille and JP arrived first thing to assess the damage. Amazingly, very little rain had come in through all of the plastic and hence no damage to the plasterboard which I've already fitted. However there were puddles at all of the entrances.
The rain had even found a way into the kitchen, seemingly under the stairs down from the passage! We think that it has come in under the wall there where there are some stones missing and the bedrock has been exposed.
The rain has been so heavy and has continued for so many days, that the Septic Tank is sitting in a pond! It actually IS placed where there used to be a duck pond, and we can see why. There must be a natural depression in the rock so that the rainwater collects and forms a pond.
Fortunately, the rain stopped just after 9am so we've had a bit of a respite. We're hoping that we're over the worst so that the builders can continue on the roof on Monday. Once they've got the first section of roofing done, they could continue working in the loft area if it rains again.
