Arboriculture

We have had a lot of rain lately ... there have been huge collections of water in the fields in the valley.  What with the water in the soil and then strong winds last Monday one of our dead trees was loosened and fell against another small tree.
As you can see I tried to push it over but my days of being the worlds strongest man have sadly gone.  However ... next day it had done it by itself (the smaller tree had snapped).
Out came the trusty chainsaw ...
which made light work of the dead trees ...
and hey presto ...
all reduced to more wood for the pile!

This looks Dangerous

I saw the Head Gardener working on "Future Plans" which always means more work!!!  She says she is looking at next year's seeds ... from America!

Meanwhile 'The North Wind doth blow...'
The Grass Hedge which is made of Pannicum 'North Wind' is now in its winter form ... looking a lovely gold in the rare sunshine (a lot of rain at the moment).

They're all in

The weather stayed favourable for us over the weekend so we managed to finish planting the alliums in the prairie beds. I have a picture in my minds eye of a vast purple haze next May. However I fear my dreams will not be fulfilled as the bulbs were rather small and we had our usual problem that we  could not plant very deep due to the lack of soil. Still hope springs eternal!!
The last of 3600 Alliums!

And now we can get on with proper gardening.
